Robin had been a nurse for five years when a patient became combative and assaulted her. Her colleagues, while sympathetic, did not understand the impact of the assault on her. This made Robin feel angry and alone.
Robin filed a police report because she didn’t want this to happen again to another nurse. Once the patient found out, Robin’s colleagues told her the patient wanted to give her an apology. However, Robin really struggled to forgive the patient.
After some reflection and following the steps in this module, Robin became able to release her anger. She forgave the patient and moved forward with her life. Robin has also chosen to talk with a counsellor about her experience to process her feelings.
